In 2002, the AMA Foundation launched the Fund for Better Health grant-making initiative to support community service projects by AMA-affiliated organizations, such as state/county alliances, sate/county medical societies, and groups or individuals.
The 2005 grant recipients from the Fund for Better Health include the Boyd County Medical Alliance for their Safe Harbor Transitional Housing Project and KMAA for the Choices Video which was produced in collaboration with KMA. Grants awarded in 2005 supported programs that addressed three public health issues: substance abuse prevention, healthy nutrition and physical fitness and violence prevention.
