CME Coordinator's Certification Program

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Attend an Essentials Workshop or state, regional or national workshop within the previous 12 months of exam administration; AND

  • Job Requirements:

    *Are currently employed as a CME Coordinator/assistant at a KMA/ACCME accredited organization and have held the position for a minimum of one year; OR

    *Not currently employed as a CME Coordinator/assistant at a KMA/ACCME accredited organization:

    1. Must have held position of CME Coordinator/assistant at a KMA/ACCME accredited organization for a minimum of one year, AND
    2. Out of the position for less than or equal to two years.



Test will be administered as needed, annually. Material covered in exam will cover the Essentials, accreditation policies and KMA CME Accreditation Program policies and procedures.

A fee is required which will cover the exam, workshop and certificate (may retake the exam one time without paying an additional fee).

A minimum score of 80% is required for certification. Upon passing the exam, coordinator will receive a printed certificate and name will be listed on the KMA Web site.

The length of certification will be for two years, at which time a re-certification exam will be given.

Qualification designation – CCMEC (Certified CME Coordinator)

Certification is encouraged for all accredited providers, but is not required for accreditation purposes.

 

RE-CERTIFICATION

All CME Coordinators throughout the State of Kentucky are encouraged to take advantage of the below educational activities with or without the CCMEC certification. Criteria defined below addresses requirements to maintain certification credentials.

Speakers providing one hour lectures relevant to the Essentials we work under

If a facility receives excellent review of a certain Element during an initial accreditation / reaccreditation survey that facilities coordinator could provide a one hour lecture and she {the coordinator} would receive additional credits for providing the educational lecture.

Attendance of the Annual ACCME Conference (participants are given certificate of attendance at the actual conference as proof)

If certified coordinator does not turn in 12 credits each cycle. Are they allowed to maintain certification without re-taking test?

It is required of the coordinator to retake the exam in order to maintain his/her certification if 12 credits of CEU are not available for documentation

Each coordinator is responsible for keeping up with their CE credits and turning them in at the end of each cycle to the KMA/CME office.
