March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
During Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the KMA Cancer Committee and one of its partners, the Colon Cancer Prevention Project, would like to remind our members of the vital importance of screening in the detection of colon cancer. By following screening recommendations, the number of lives claimed can be reduced by up to 50%.
Although it is one of the most preventable types of cancer, it remains the second leading cancer killer, striking over 100,000 Americans each year, claiming more lives than breast or prostate cancer.
If you would like to promote group screenings through local clinics, community groups, outreach programs or to inquire about colorectal cancer screening, please contact the Colon Cancer Prevention Project for more information.
