AMA Webcast to Cover Dangers of High-risk Drinking Among College Students

Physicians and medical students are invited to participate in a national webcast from noon to 1 p.m. (CST) on October 23 that will address the extent and implications of high-risk drinking among college students.

Presented by the AMA, the webcast will summarize evidence-based strategies from "A Matter of Degree: The National Effort to Reduce High-Risk Drinking Among College Students," a national program fostering collaboration between participating universities and the communities in which they are located.

An expert panel from the AMA, Louisiana State University, University of Iowa, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Brown University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will discuss the incidence of and problems related to college high-risk and underage drinking on student well-being, effects on the campus and community, and evidence-based policy strategies to reduce problems.
