In accordance with HIPAA, Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires the use of an NPI number by May 23, 2008.  As of May 23,  KY Medicaid will deny all claims submitted with a legacy provider ID.  To register your NPI with KY Medicaid, contact First Health Services  at 800-639-5195.  Physicians should also ensure all of their information in the NPI database is up-to-date as this can affect a payer's ability to identify a physician and thus pay their claims. Physicians can make changes/updates to their information by going online or calling 800-465-3203.
